Master Bathroom

We are making progress with the master bathroom, not as fast as I would like, but it is coming along.  We are using the shower daily.  I chose a glass mosaic tile for the shower walls and we also used the glass tiles as accents for the bathroom floor.  The hardware is chrome.  I love it because we have a large rain dome as well as a hand-held sprayer.  The shower seat is nice especially now that I am pregnant and 7 months pregnant at that.  It is much easier and safer to get out of than the porcelain tub. Here are a few pictures of the shower only.  We are expecting the cabinets by the end of this week [fingers crossed].  Once the cabinets go in I can get the countertop installed.  After the countertop is installed the only thing left is installing the toilet, lights, the sink, and faucet which I already have.  See, I've been ready to have this done for a while now.  Now with Kira on the way there is a sense of urgency.  

P.S.  I am really proud of my husband because he framed and designed this shower himself.  He is such a handyman.

As you all know our house has been an ongoing project.  Our latest addition has been changing out the front door.  This is what the original front door looked like.

This is the new one that I love, love, love.  

Joe has to replace the trim around this door, but despite that, it is much more prettier than the old one.  We are getting close to finishing the master bathroom renovation.  Once that is complete we will move to that bedroom, and then we will have the other bedroom for the nursery.

We got the plane about 2 years ago, and it seems like it has been that long since I've been up in the plane.  With Joe so busy with work and the plane in the shop, we have not found the time to go fly.  The plane was in the shop for its annual check up and while in there they had to work on the radio.  Apparently the mechanics don't get in a hurry to fix the plane unless you tell them you need it ready by a certain time.  The mechanic gave Joe the OK to fly.  He said he put a temporary radio in the plane [just like the one we have] while he sent ours off to the manufacturer to get checked out.  I have been anxious to fly for some time now.  I have to admit I was nervous and wanted to face my fear.   When we got there Joe said "now you have to put you money where you mouth is".   I got him out there so he was flying.  So, the temporary radio worked, SO WE THOUGHT!  I thought that is why they put it in there.  Joe talked to the control tower and was given approval for us to take off.  We flew for about 30 minutes.  Joe wanted to buzz over Lake Conroe like he has done in the past, but I was ready to get back to the airport.  He called the tower to let them know he was 10 miles out and would be landing soon.  He thought he got approval.  As we were making final approach, Joe looked at me and said the radio isn't working, and I can't hear anything and they can't hear me.  So, Joe makes a turn; we are not landing anymore.  I say another prayer.  The first prayer was before taking off.  I do that when I am flying on an big airliner too.   When you are ready to land and the tower can't hear you, that is not good sign.  Joe continued talking hoping the tower would hear him.  Once we got closer the tower heard us and we got clearance to land.

Proud Mama & Papa

We've been anxiously waiting for this lovely Anthurium to bloom.  We bought it at a flea market 2 years ago in Hawaii while we were on our Honeymoon.  When we bought it, it was a tiny plant enclosed in a plastic bag.  We figured it was a late bloomer because it had jet lag from flying 9 hours across the Pacific Ocean.  I brought it outside for the picture, but it sits in our kitchen window.

We found a crib today, but I will wait and share that for another post.  Here is the nursery bedding that will go in the crib, and a sneak peak of what I dream for the nursery to look like.

I found this bedding at Pottery Barn Kids before I ever got pregnant and loved it.  I looked at other bedding, but always found myself going back to this one.  It is girly, whimsical, and just perfect.  It may sound crazy, but I bought it.  I know you are suppose to register for this stuff, but I was afraid it would not be around come October, which is when my shower will be.  We are going to keep the room the color it is painted now, which is a light blue like the room you see painted above.  I am enjoying planning this nursery and cannot wait to see the end result.  I will be sure to continue to share the progress.

IT IS A SHE

16 Weeks

This past Wednesday we got confirmation that our little peanut is a Girl.   I made it a point to eat something sweet before my appointment that morning, so the baby would move around, and the doctor could see what "It" was.  Joe and I went to Cracker Barrel and ate breakfast.  I had french toast, eggs, sausage, and a large glass of orange juice.  I even got a coke to go so I could drink it on the way to the appointment. At our last appointment she moved a couple of times, but kept her legs closed, so we couldn't see what she was.  My appointment was at 10:15 a.m, but they did not get me in the ultrasound room until 11:15, so I am not sure if the sugar-high wore off.  She moved a couple of times, but not in the position the doctor could tell the sex.  So, the doctor gave me the option to do a vaginal ultrasound.  She said because of the position of the baby and where its bottom was, she could get closer to that area by doing that ultrasound.  I was willing to do whatever to find out.  Once she began that ultrasound the baby started moving and the doctor showed us what she was looking at.  She said she thought it was a girl by something she saw on the first ultrasound, but that is why she opted to do the second ultrasound to be certain.  She said the baby looks good and is on track.  She is about 4.5 inches long.  I love her so much already.  We are dreaming, and waiting, Praying, preparing and anticipating.  Each day a touch closer to holding her.

A peaceful day

Over the weekend we went to Huntsville, TX for a Memorial Day gathering with the family.  It was nice to get away for the day and away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.  It was a peaceful place to be.  The house belongs to my Aunt's boyfriend [Larry].  It is a log cabin set on 6 acres of land and all you could hear were people chatting, kids playing, and the birds chirping.  The cabin has a wrap-around porch with porch swings, chairs, and ceiling fans [to keep the flies away of course].  I could imagine waking up every morning and sipping coffee on the porch with my honey.  It is a dreamy place, and one day I hope to own a place like that.  Joe and I road a mule, not the animal, but like a golf cart.  We drove it around the property by the lake, and I drove.  We ate BBQ, and it was delicious, and nothing short of that.
